I HEARD THE LORD SAY, “THEIR BREAD IS TOAST”
A few weeks ago, I had a very short, but startling, vision within a dream. In it, I saw what appeared to be the disembodied face of a very well-known prophet. I heard, “Their bread is toast.” Then I saw another disembodied face, this time with only one eye in the center of the forehead and no other facial features.
In the first scene, because I saw only the face of a prophet without a body, and heard the Holy Spirit say “Their,” I knew that He was speaking of many prophets, not just the one specific prophet I saw. I was immediately aware of what the Lord meant because that prophet is very well known for his prophetic gift. He, and many other prophetic voices have been in the forefront of accusations of “prophetic wrong-doing being exposed” over the last months/year.
The second face I saw with one eye and no other features represents the psychic/soulish realm of prophetic utterance, which is very different than the pure words from the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, many do not know the difference. One is from the mind of man, (sometimes influenced by the demonic spiritual realm), the other from the mind of Christ. Many in the “new age” movement operate in this realm, unknowingly, because they have not received the Spirit of the Lord (are not born again). Some who operate in this realm are born again, but because many churches don’t honor all the gifts, they have not been taught the difference between the soulish realm (one’s own reasoning), the psychic (demonic) realm and the Holy Spirit realm. Others are operating under a spirit of deception because they have been wounded, offended, or are immature and need proper instruction and mentoring on discerning what spirit they are hearing. Another example is deception from being influenced by the world’s ways, desiring profit and fame (more on that shortly).
I wanted to be sure that what I was sensing was accurate, so I asked the Holy Spirit. What I heard by the Spirit of the Lord was, “Their bread (what they are providing for food to the masses) I am turning to toast, for it is not the bread of My Holy Ghost, who only desires to exalt My presence. Their bread is NOT the bread from heaven, it is full of man-exalting leaven. Those who seek profit are not My prophets. My prophets bring forth words from My throne, and their exultation is for Me alone. A prophet desiring profit is a blemish to My name; they are seeking their own personal gain and My righteousness they have not maintained. Do not bring forth leaven, that which is puffed up with pride. I say, I will not have it in My Bride. You must remove the evil root inside, for I will not have it in My Bride. I am heating up the flames of My fire, for a Holy people is My desire. Receive My grace for repentance and turning, or the bread you release shall be bound for burning. My fire refines to bring restoration to My design.”
I was reminded of Balaam, the prophet who used his prophetic gift for profit – money/reward, honor of men and fame (Numbers chapters 22-24). We are warned against doing this in three places: 2 Peter 2:15, Jude 1:11; Rev. 2:14. Balaam not only used his gift for profit, but even so far as to the perverting of his gift by using his influence to get others to engage in idolatry and immorality. That is how the love of money can bring a deception that leads to other evils. There are other examples where the prophets prophesied to please men and their words fell to the ground (did not come to pass), unlike Samuel – not one of his words fell to the ground (1 Sam. 3:19).
As I was praying about releasing this word, I picked up my Bible, and it opened to Deuteronomy 18:20-22. The subject heading was, “Test of the Prophets.” This was confirmation that I was to publish this word.
"'But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' "And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'-- "when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him." (Deu 18:20-22 NKJV)
I believe the Lord is giving this as a warning, that the death referred to may imply death to the words of the prophets (their bread shall be toast). The word “die” in this scripture can mean literally or figuratively (Strong’s Concordance). We are in the age of grace; however, as the Ecclesia begins to rise and operate apostolically, there may be quick judgments (Ananias and Sapphira as an example). Yet we know mercy triumphs over judgment and the Holy Spirit always brings conviction and the opportunity to repent, return, and receive a course correction, praise God!
The Ecclesia is being refined – every part - not just the prophets. Even as in the world we are seeing great exposure, and the removal of many from their positions of leadership and influence, so shall it be in the church. For God is bringing His hand upon the prophets and others in the church who are wrongly using their gifts for personal gain. There has been much exposure; if there is no repentance, their bread shall be turned to toast, as spoken by the Holy Ghost.
This is encouraging! For the Kingdom of God shall advance in the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! There shall be purity of character after much purging from the darkness that has crept into the church by the influence of the world and its ways. For the presence and power of the Holy Spirit shall be manifest in these last days!
"According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation [with] gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on [it] endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Do you not know that you are the temple of God and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which [temple] you are." (1Co 3:10-17 NKJV)
Do you see the kindness and grace of God in this? “If anyone’s work is burned (turned to toast), he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” (My words added in parentheses.) God’s mercy is at work in the correction! He never stops loving us; in His love He corrects us so we will be saved through that fire, and our temple will be full of light. Rejoice if you are in a season where your bread is being burned, for the redemptive purposes of the Lord are at work. After your fiery trial, you will bring forth bread that is pure and holy, full of the presence of the Lord - a work that endures!
